ABOUT THIS PIECE

This is the Kirtimukh guardian face in a black and gold finish with golden tassels. Black takes nazar in, gold keeps the face visible. Hang it above the main door, facing outward, so it meets whatever arrives at the house before the people inside do.

Kirtimukh Wall Hanging (Black with Tassel)

What this is

A Kirtimukh wall hanging is the guardian face that holds a doorway, and this is the black and gold one, the version most homes start with. Black is the colour that takes nazar in. The gold keeps the face readable from across a room. Golden tassels hang below it and move in the draught of the door, which is how you notice it working every time someone comes in.

The face that swallows

The Kirtimukh is a mouth and eyes and nothing else. In the story it ate everything put in front of it, then began on its own body, and Shiva stopped it at the head and gave that head the door to guard. It has held temple entrances ever since. A house door is the same boundary. Whatever arrives with a visitor, nazar, envy, a heavy mood, meets the face at the frame and stays there.

Where it comes from

The body is cast light so a single hook carries it, then finished in black and gold and strung with tassels by hand. Every piece is checked before it is boxed: finish intact, tassel knots tight, loop checked with weight on it.

QUESTIONS

Questions, answered

Why black for a nazar battu?

Black is the colour that takes nazar in and holds it. That is why the guardian face at a doorway is so often finished dark, with gold only for the detail.

Is this COD eligible?

Yes. COD on eligible pincodes for a standalone Kirtimukh wall hanging.
